The Spartanburg Democratic Party held their monthly breakfast at The Peach Blossom (Bus. I-85 & SC Hwy. 9) on June 27, 2009. Professor Ron Romine spoke about "The Changing Face of the SC General Assembly" and the small or nonexistent percentages of women in elected office. He urged everyone to attend our upcoming monthly luncheon at the Golden Coral (W.O. Ezell Blvd.) on July 13, 2009 to hear Kara Bell, Adjunct Professor of Women's Studies at USCS. Another presenter was high school graduate and Young SC Democrat, Jonathan Blanton. Jonathan gave his oration, entitled, "America Is Still Standing" to our breakfast group and was received by a standing ovation. Before Jonathan began, he smiled and said, "Good morning everyone, it is a good day to be a Democrat, don't you think?"
